In a statement, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has debunked new voting dates promulgated by some radio presenters over the week.
The presser, dated November 24, 2024, and endorsed by the Deputy Chairman of Operations for the Electoral Commission, Mr Samuel Tettey, inputs that the commission has taken note of a misleading broadcast by a presenter on Wontumi TV claiming that there would be different voting dates for some presidential candidates in the December 7th General Elections.
In reaction, the EC debunked the claim, stating that “the 2024 election will take place on 7th December 2024.”
The EC emphasised that “voting starts from 7 am until 5 pm” while encouraging the general public to “go out in their numbers and cast their votes in an orderly manner.”

Ghana Police Arrest Wontumi Presenter For False Information
The Ghana Police Service on November 23, 2024, announced the custody of Kumasi-based Wontumi TV presenter Oheneba Nana Asiedu for publication of false news.
As stated by the Ghana Police Service, the suspect’s Oheneba Nana Asiedu offences contradict Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The police promulgated that it would arraign the suspect before the court to face justice.
